Premier Hardwood Product, Inc. purchased two used AWD
conventional kilns from the now defunct Pennsylvania House factor in
Lewisburg, PA and moved them to their plant in Syracuse,
NY.
Utilizing in-house capabilities, Premier Hardwood erected and wired
both AWD kilns. PCSI was brought onsite at the end of the
installation to verify correct operation of the kiln controllers and
assist with minor troubleshooting.
One unusual aspect of this installation were the hot water
boilers used to provide heat to the conventional kilns. Heating
water was pumped in a loop from the boiler to a second attached loop,
where control valves and additional pumps pulled off heat as
necessary.
Premier Hardwoods decided to keep the existing RH sensors, which I
found to be still accurate: remarkable stable considering the constant
temperature and RH variation found inside a conventional kiln!
