To showcase the flexibility of the Partlow 1160 control module, below are described a number of possible configurations:
Heating: Utilizing a thermocouple, the Partlow 1160 controls a SSR which operates a bank of heaters in a ceramic kiln.
Cooling: Utilizing an RTD (Resistance
Temperature Detector), the Partlow 1160 controls two starters, one of
which operates a pump to a cooling tower, the other which operates the
fan of the cooling tower.
Level control: Utilizing an ultrasonic level sensor, the Partlow
1160 controls a variable frequency drive, altering the flow of a pump
to maintain fluid level.
Plant-wide heat duty: Utilizing a pressure transducer, the Partlow
1160 monitors boiler pressure. As the pressure is reduced, the
Partlow feeds the data to a supervisory computer. This
supervisory computer updates the upper limit of other Partlow 1160's
controlling various heat valves throughout the plant, reducing the load
on the boiler and balancing the demand of each individual control
valve.
